The Pallavan Express is a superfast train operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. This train connects the cities of Tiruchirapalli and Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the more prestigious trains of the Southern Railway.

The train runs daily, similar to the Vaigai express. Pallavan was introduced parallel to Vaigai as it could not complete the round trip of Madurai-Chennai-Madurai. It covers the distance of 336.2 km in five hours thirty minutes and has only 9 stops. It is the most popular train for people travelling between Tiruchirapalli and Chennai during the daytime. The maximum speed of this train is maintained in the Vriddhachalam-Villupuram sector at 110 km/h. It departs Tiruchirapalli at 06.30 hrs and arrives at Chennai Egmore at 12.00 hrs.It departs at 12:40 as Vaigai to Madurai. Vaigai that arrives at Chennai Egmore at 14:30 departs at 15.45 hrs as Pallavan and arrives at Tiruchirapalli at 21.15 hrs. The train also contains a pantry car- for continuous food supply to passengers. The pantry coach is denoted as PS1 as it is Pantry Car-Cum- Second Sitting(Reserved)
Train is named after the Pallavas Kingdom who ruled over the parts that is the present Chennai and its surroundings.
